Meanwhile, the number of hospital discharges in Spain is expected to rise to 5.6 million by 2026 from 5.4 million this year, with an annual growth rate of 0.3% since 1977. The UK overtook Spain in 2021, with 5.4 million discharges. China, France and Germany were ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
