Gambian fertilizer imports are set to surge over the next five years. In 2021, the country imported 3,550 metric tons, up 78.2% compared to 2007. This put Gambia at 122nd in the world rankings, behind Armenia with 3,550 metric tons. Brazil, Spain, and Thailand ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. Over the next five years, Gambian fertilizer imports are expected to grow 4.6% annually, reaching 4,740 metric tons by 2026.
