Qatar is set to become one of the leading countries for fertilizer imports and exports by 2026, with imports expected to reach 4,150 metric tons, a 1.1% annual growth from 2021. Since 2007, demand has grown 5.4% each year. In 2021, Qatar was the 121st largest importer, behind Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Spain and Thailand. Qatari fertilizer exports, meanwhile, rose 10.8% in 2017 to 1,620 metric tons from 2016, and have increased 18.6% since 2008.
