Austrian biofuel production is projected to decline, reaching approximately 4,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2028, down from around 5,700 barrels in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 2.7%. The downward trend in biofuel production is not new for Austria. Historical data indicates that since 1995, the country's biofuel supply has been dropping by an average of 4.4% each year. In contrast, Austrian biofuel demand is on an upward trajectory. By 2028, demand is expected to climb to roughly 8,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day, up from about 7,900 barrels in 2023. This equates to a compound annual growth rate of 1.6%. Despite the recent growth, the long-term trend has been less favorable. Since 1995, Austrian biofuel demand has declined by an average of 3.4% annually.
