In 2018, Lao goat meat consumption totaled 2,000 metric tons, up from 1,000 metric tons the year before. This placed the country at 117th in the world rankings; Guatemala held the number one spot with 2,000 metric tons. India, Pakistan and Iran ranked second, third and fourth, respectively. Lao goat meat production was also close to 2,000 metric tons in 2018, up from 1,000 metric tons in 2017. The country came in at 107th in the world rankings, with Guatemala topping the list with 2,000 metric tons. Australia, India and Pakistan came in second, third and fourth, respectively.
