In 2015, French Polynesia imported nearly $210 million and exported close to $41 million in rum. This was a slight decrease from the previous year, when imports totaled $231 million and exports reached $38.5 million. The country was fourth in the world for rum imports and fifth for rum exports. Italy, Spain and the United States were the top three importers of rum, with the US taking the top spot at $281 million. The United States, Italy and France were the three largest exporters, with the US again leading the way at $177 million.
