Ethiopian platinum exports are projected to reach $44 billion by 2026, down 3.2% year-on-year on average since 2021. In 2021, Ethiopia ranked 57th, down 8.2% since 2009, when Indonesia overtook it with exports worth $53.7 billion. The United Kingdom, Russia and the United States came in second, third and fourth respectively. Meanwhile, imports of platinum into Ethiopia decreased by 15.5% to $1.16 billion in 2021, from $1.38 billion in 2020. Since 2009, demand has dropped by 9.8%. Ethiopia ranked 102nd, with Ivory Coast ahead of it at $1.16 billion. Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom were the top three importers.
