Irish exports of platinum fell by 2.6% in 2021 compared to the previous year, totaling $732,200. This represents a 1.9% increase since 1997. Australia overtook Ireland in the global rankings, moving into the number 44 spot. The UK, Russia and the US came in at 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Irish platinum imports are estimated to hit $207.9 million by 2026, up from $191 million in 2021, at a year-on-year growth rate of 1.7%. This is a 0.6% increase since 1997. Malaysia overtook Ireland in the global rankings, moving into the number 16 spot. Germany, Japan and the UK placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
