Malagasy demand for cobalt is set to grow steadily in the coming years. In 2021, the country was 63rd in the world for cobalt imports, with Qatar overtaking them with 420.33 Kilograms. Belgium, the United States and Japan followed in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, respectively. When it comes to exports, Malagasy supply of cobalt rose 1.2% year-on-year since 2017 and is expected to reach 4.02 million kilograms by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 3.1% year-on-year. In 2021, Japan overtook the country to become the 6th largest exporter of cobalt, with the United States, Russia and China following in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, respectively.
