Latvia is set to experience a 5% year-on-year growth in cobalt imports, according to a new report. Between 2002 and 2021, demand for the metal increased by a staggering 242%, with the country now standing at 59th in the global rankings. Ivory Coast is in first place at 932 kilograms, followed by Belgium, the US and Japan. Meanwhile, cobalt exports from Latvia have fallen dramatically. In 2018, 56 kilograms were exported, compared to 24,640 kilograms the year before. This represents a 99.8% decrease. The country is now 49th in the world rankings, with Luxembourg overtaking at 56 kilograms. The US, Russia and China are second, third and fourth respectively.
