Malagasy pear production is forecast to drop by 0.9% year on year to a total of 1.2 million metric tons by 2026. This decline follows a downward trend since 1966, when production was 1.5% lower than the year before. In 2021, the country ranked 72nd in the world, with Libya overtaking it at 1.3 million metric tons. The United States, Argentina and Italy were the top three producers, in that order.
