India is set to become the eighth largest producer of pears in the world by 2026. According to figures, production of the fruit is expected to reach 315,550 metric tons over the next five years, growing at an average of 0.3% annually. Since 1966, annual Indian pear production has decreased by 0.8%. In 2021, Spain overtook India to become the largest producer with 310,750 metric tons. The United States, Argentina, and Italy followed in second, third, and fourth place respectively.
