Australian pea consumption is predicted to remain steady over the next five years, according to a recent report. Last year, the country consumed 6 million metric tons of peas, ranking 57th in the world. Finland was ahead, consuming 6 million metric tons. China, Ethiopia and Bangladesh were the top three consumers - respectively consuming 37 million, 28 million and 24 million metric tons. On the production side, Australia is expected to produce 138,860 metric tons of peas by 2026, down 5.3% from 2021. This is a decrease of 14.4% compared to figures from 1966. Ethiopia holds the top spot, with 209,500 metric tons of production in 2021, followed by Bangladesh, Russia and Canada.
