Austrian pea production fell by 23.5% in 2021 compared to 2020, amounting to 7,170 metric tons. This represents a total decrease of 17.8% since 1966. Consumption of the crop in Austria was close to 1,000 metric tons in 2018, a slight decline from 2017. Austria was ranked 90th in the world for pea consumption in 2018, while Bulgaria was slightly ahead at 1,000 metric tons. China, Ethiopia and Bangladesh were the top three consumers of the crop, respectively.
