In 2021, the country ranked 33rd in terms of pea consumption, with Japan in the lead at 15 thousand metric tons. China, Ethiopia and Bangladesh followed in second, third and fourth place respectively. In 2021, Dutch pea production sank to 847 metric tons, a 26.7% decrease from 2020's 1,160 metric tons. Since 1966, Dutch supply has dropped by 19.9% year-on-year.
