Colombia is set to become the 24th largest onion producer in the world by 2026. Production is expected to increase 1.8% year-on-year on average, reaching 854 thousand metric tons by 2026. This is an increase of 4.5% since 2017. Kazakhstan currently holds the top spot, producing 765 thousand metric tons in 2021. India, the United States and Egypt respectively followed in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. Colombia is also set to become the 22nd largest onion consumer in the world by 2026. Consumption is expected to grow 1.5% year-on-year on average, reaching 704 thousand metric tons by 2026. This is an increase of 3.9% since 2017. Ukraine currently holds the top spot, consuming 643 thousand metric tons in 2021. India, the United States and Egypt respectively followed in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.
