India, the United States and Egypt were the top three countries in this ranking. Production of Japanese onions is expected to drop by 0.1% a year, to 1.17 million metric tons in 2026. In 2021, Nigeria was the top producer at 1.18 million metric tons, followed by India, the United States and Egypt. Japan was 19th in this ranking.
