Spanish onion consumption is forecast to reach 850 thousand metric tons by 2026, a decline of 0.3% a year on average since 2021. In 2021, Spanish demand was down 0.1% year on year, putting the country at number 19 in the rankings, overtaken by Myanmar at 864 thousand metric tons. India, the US and Egypt occupied the top three spots. Meanwhile, Spanish onion production is set to drop 0.4% annually to 1,230 thousand metric tons by 2026. Since 2017, supply has decreased 0.2% year on year, with the Netherlands overtaking Spain at 1,270 thousand metric tons in 2021. India, the US and Egypt once again held the top three positions.
