In 2021, Austria was the 76th biggest onion consumer, while Sweden overtook them with 67,000 metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt were respectively the 2nd, 3rd and 4th biggest onion consumers. Similarly, Austrian onion production is set to decrease to 91,740 metric tons by 2026, a 4.4% year-on-year drop on average since 2021. Compared to 2017, the supply has decreased 3.4%. In 2021, Austria was the 56th biggest onion producer, while Kenya overtook them with 119,000 metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt were respectively the 2nd, 3rd and 4th biggest onion producers.
