Greek Onion production is set to decline over the next five years according to a report by IndexBox. In 2021, production totalled 95.96 thousand metric tons, 2.5% lower than the previous year. Since 2017, production has been falling year on year, declining by 2.3%. Greece ranked 57th in 2021, behind Austria with 111 thousand metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt respectively ranked second, third and fourth in this ranking. Consumption of Greek onions is also forecast to decline, reaching 96 thousand metric tons by 2026. This is 2.3% lower than in 2021, when 111 thousand metric tons were consumed. Since 2017, demand has been falling year on year, declining by 2.3%. Greece was 61st in the world ranking in 2021, behind Yemen with 111 thousand metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt respectively were second, third and fourth in this ranking.
