Onion consumption in Hungary is set to reach 62,000 metric tons by 2026, down 0.3% from 63,000 metric tons in 2021. Since 2017, consumption has grown 0.5% on average each year. The Dominican Republic overtook Hungary in 2021, placing 79th in the rankings. India, the US and Egypt placed second, third and fourth respectively. Meanwhile, Hungarian onion production is expected to reach 40,600 metric tons by 2026, a decrease of 2.2% from 46,000 metric tons in 2021. Since 2017, production has fallen 0.7% on average every year. Sweden overtook Hungary in 2021 at 46,000 metric tons, with India, the US and Egypt coming in second, third and fourth.
