Nepalese onion consumption is set to grow over the next five years. In 2021, it reached 128 thousand metric tons – up 1.9% from 2017 – making it the 59th biggest consumer in the world. Taiwan led the way at 128 thousand metric tons, followed by India, the US and Egypt. By 2026, consumption is expected to reach 141 thousand metric tons, with an average annual growth rate of 1.5%.
