Malaysian onion consumption is predicted to hit 610,000 metric tons by 2026. This is an increase of 1.4% year on year from 2021's 560,000 metric tons. Since 2017, demand has grown at a rate of 2.2% year on year. In 2021, Malaysia was ranked 27th in the world for onion consumption. South Africa led the pack with 560,000 metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt followed in second, third and fourth place, respectively.
