Saudi Arabia is set to produce 16,800 metric tons of onions by 2026, according to the latest figures. This figure is a 9.7% decrease compared to 2021's 30,000 metric tons. Since 2017, onion production in the country has increased by 6.3% year-on-year. In 2021, it was the 88th largest producer, while Switzerland was ahead in first place. India, the US and Egypt ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Saudi onion consumption is projected to reach 420,470 metric tons by 2026, up 0.5% from the 409,000 metric tons recorded in 2021. Since 2017, demand for onions has grown 2% on average every year. In 2021, it was ranked 32nd, with Romania in first place. India, the US and Egypt were second, third and fourth respectively.
