Since 1966, production of the legume in Uganda has grown by 1.8% annually. In 2021, it was the 28th largest producer of chickpeas in the world. Bosnia and Herzegovina was the largest producer that year, with 5,720 metric tons. Myanmar, Russia, and Ethiopia were the second, third, and fourth biggest producers, respectively.
