Uzbekistan is on track to become a major player in chickpea production. By 2026, the country is expected to produce 14,000 metric tons of chickpeas, up from 11,410 metric tons in 2021. This amounts to a 3.1% year-on-year average growth rate. Since 1997, Uzbekistan’s chickpea supply has grown 8.8% year-on-year. In 2021, the country ranked 23rd worldwide in terms of chickpea production, with Nepal overtaking it with 11,410 metric tons. Myanmar, Russia and Ethiopia respectively followed as the second, third and fourth biggest producers.
