Japan's chestnut production is projected to decline by 3.4% annually for the next five years, from 12,020 metric tons in 2021 to 14,730 metric tons in 2026. This follows a 2.3% year-on-year fall since 1966. In 2021, Japan was the eighth-largest producer, with Greece leading the way at 14,730 metric tons. Spain, Bolivia and South Korea followed, occupying positions 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
