By 2028, consumption is expected to reach 4,000 metric tons, up from 3,340 metric tons in 2023, marking an average annual growth rate of 2.9%. Since 2019, the demand for fish in Rwanda has increased by 4.1% each year. In 2023, Rwanda ranked 138th globally in fish consumption, with the Bahamas slightly ahead at the same consumption level. Leading the rankings were Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand in second, third, and fourth places respectively.
