In terms of fish consumption, Bangladesh is projected to consume about 85,000 metric tons by 2028, a modest increase from the 83,000 metric tons recorded in 2023. This reflects an average annual growth rate of 0.4% since 2019. Despite this growth, Bangladesh ranked 45th in global fish consumption in 2023, with Zambia slightly ahead at 83,000 metric tons. Globally, Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand were the leading countries in fish consumption, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
