This downward trend has been consistent since 2019. In 2023, Nicaragua ranked 84th in global fish consumption, with Kuwait narrowly ahead at the same figure of 24,200 metric tons. Leading the global consumption rankings were Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
