This reflects an average yearly growth rate of 0.3%. Since 2019, the nation's fish demand has been on a steady rise, growing by 0.4% annually. In 2023, Algeria ranked 39th in global fish consumption. Sierra Leone narrowly surpassed Algeria with an intake also around 116,000 metric tons. Leading the global rankings were Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
