Since 2019, the country's fish consumption has grown at a rate of 2.7% annually. In 2023, East Timor ranked 125th globally in fish consumption, with Vanuatu slightly ahead at 6,010 metric tons. Leading the ranking were Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
