Malawian demand for imported salmon is projected to grow over the next five years, with an average annual growth rate of 3.1%. In 2021, the country imported 1,660kg of salmon, down 7.7% from 2007. Senegal overtook Malawi in 2021, importing 1,370kg of salmon. Poland, the US and France placed second, third and fourth respectively in this ranking.
