Korea is set to experience a 4.1% year-on-year growth in salmon imports, reaching 28.6 million kilograms by 2026. This compares to 22.1 million kilograms in 2021, representing an 11.5% annual growth since 1993. In 2021, Korea was the 14th largest importer, behind Lithuania’s 22.1 million kilograms. Poland, the US and France were the second, third and fourth largest importers respectively. Korea’s salmon exports also grew significantly, reaching 8,460 kilograms in 2018 compared to 199.4 kilograms in 2017. In 2018, Korea was the 43rd largest exporter, behind Brunei’s 8,460 kilograms. Sweden, Chile and the UK were the second, third and fourth largest exporters respectively.
