Maltese frozen fish imports are set to reach around $76 million by 2026, according to figures from 2021. This represents a 3.7% average yearly growth since 1999. In 2021, Malta ranked 48th globally, behind Sri Lanka, which imported $60.3 million. Japan, Thailand and South Korea were the next biggest importers. Maltese frozen fish exports in 2021 totaled $12.3 million, down 19.5% from 2020. Since 1999, Maltese exports have decreased by 23.1% year on year. In 2021, Malta ranked 58th, with Guyana overtaking with $12.3 million. Russia, the United States and Chile were the next biggest exporters.
