In 2021, the country had a production of 206,110 metric tons, representing an average growth rate of 1.5% year on year since 1966. That put Ecuador in 44th place in the rankings, with Uruguay taking the lead at 206,110 metric tons. Brazil, India, and Mexico followed in second, third and fourth place, respectively.
