Mauritian adults are on track to experience an increase in overweight prevalence over the next five years. By 2026, 35.4 percent of adults are expected to be overweight, an increase from 33.9 percent in 2021. This growth has been steady since 1980, rising at an average of 0.7 percent each year. In 2021, Mauritius ranked 135th in overweight prevalence among adults, with Ivory Coast ahead at 33.9 percent. The Marshall Islands, Tuvalu and Kiribati followed in second, third and fourth place respectively.
