Ethiopia was the fifth-largest global consumer in 2021, behind China with 2.9 million metric tons. India, China and Ethiopia ranked second, third and fourth in global consumption. Meanwhile, Ethiopian Sorghum production is forecast to grow 2.2% annually to 6.4 million metric tons by 2026, with a 3.3% year-on-year growth since 1998. Nigeria was the global leader in 2021 with 5.6 million metric tons, followed by Nigeria, Ethiopia and Mexico.
