Consumption of sorghum in India is expected to drop by 1.2% on average every year, reaching 3.7 million metric tons by 2026. This decrease is a continuation of the 2% yearly decrease since 2017. India was the third-largest consumer of sorghum in 2021, behind Nigeria (3.96 million metric tons) and China (3.56 million metric tons). Ethiopia followed India in fourth place. Production of sorghum in India is forecast to fall by 7.2% every year on average, reaching 2.14 million metric tons by 2026. This decrease is part of the 4.9% yearly decrease since 1966. India ranked seventh in 2021, behind Mexico (3.29 million metric tons). Nigeria, Ethiopia and Mexico respectively were numbers two, three and four in this ranking.
