Chinese consumption of sorghum is expected to reach 2.6 million metric tons by 2026, down 3.1% year on year from 2021's 3.2 million metric tons. This follows a 0.3% annual growth since 2017. China was in fourth place in 2021, behind India's 3.2 million metric tons. India, China and Ethiopia took the top three spots in the ranking. Meanwhile, Chinese sorghum production is projected to reach 3.8 million metric tons in 2026, up 1.5% year on year from 2021's 3.5 million metric tons. This amount has grown 12.3% annually since 1966. India was in the lead in 2021, followed by Nigeria, Ethiopia and Mexico.
