India, China, and Ethiopia ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively. Meanwhile, Malawian production of sorghum is expected to grow at a 3.1% year on year average rate over the next five years, from 132,630 metric tons in 2021 to 159,210 metric tons by 2026. This follows an overall 17.9% increase in production since 1966. In 2021, Malawi ranked 33rd in the world for sorghum production, just behind Uruguay at 132,630 metric tons. Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Mexico ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively.
