Bangladeshi sorghum consumption is set to remain unchanged at 1,000 metric tons by 2026, according to a report released this week. This is the same level it was at in 2021, reflecting no change in the compound annual growth rate since 2020. Bangladesh ranked 51st in 2021, while Belize was ahead with 1,000 metric tons. India, China and Ethiopia came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively, in the same ranking. Bangladeshi sorghum production fell by almost a third in 2021, reaching 37 metric tons compared to 54 metric tons in 2020. This 18.4% year-on-year decrease since 1966 was the largest in the ranking. Bangladesh came in 101st in 2021, while Jordan led with 37 metric tons. Nigeria, Ethiopia and Mexico placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively.
