Nicaraguan consumption of sorghum is projected to drop by 7.8% annually, from 4,000 metric tons in 2021 to reach 3,600 metric tons by 2026. Since 2017, demand for sorghum has remained unchanged, with Honduras ranking ahead of Nicaragua at 4,000 metric tons. India, China and Ethiopia placed second, third and fourth respectively in this ranking. Meanwhile, Nicaraguan production of sorghum is expected to reduce by 5%, from 53,760 metric tons in 2021 to 39,790 metric tons by 2026. This would represent a cumulative decrease of 12.4% since 1966. Romania ranked ahead of Nicaragua in 2021, producing 53,760 metric tons. Nigeria, Ethiopia and Mexico followed in second, third and fourth place respectively.
