Zambian demand for sorghum is projected to reach 10.8 thousand metric tons by 2026, up 1.2% per year from 10 thousand metric tons in 2021, according to a new report. Demand has grown 3.6% annually since 2017, when Zambia ranked 42nd in the world. Guatemala has since overtaken Zambia, with 10 thousand metric tons. India, China and Ethiopia were numbers two, three and four in the ranking. Meanwhile, Zambian production of sorghum is estimated to drop to 3,200 metric tons by 2026, a decrease of 12.5% per year from 7,110 metric tons in 2021. Since 1966, production has decreased 12.8% annually. In 2021, Zambia ranked 70th in the world, with Serbia overtaking at 7,110 metric tons. Nigeria, Ethiopia and Mexico were numbers two, three and four in the ranking.
