Tea production in Malaysia is set to decline slightly by 2026. According to the latest estimates, production is expected to reach 10.7 thousand metric tons in 2026, down from 11 thousand metric tons in 2021. This represents a modest 0.4% annual decrease since 2017. Meanwhile, Malaysian tea consumption is forecast to remain flat. It is expected to total 32.9 thousand metric tons by 2026, down marginally from 33 thousand metric tons in 2021. Since 2017, demand has remained largely unchanged. Malaysia ranked 22nd in 2021 in terms of global tea consumption, with Taiwan surpassing it at 33 thousand metric tons. India, Brazil and Argentina took the top three spots, respectively.
