This marks an average yearly decrease of about 1.1%. Since 1999, Finland's road traffic demand has been shrinking at an average annual rate of 1.4%. In 2023, Finland ranked seventh in terms of road traffic volume. New Zealand surpassed Finland in the rankings, also reporting nearly 47 billion vehicle-kilometers for the year. Leading the list were Japan, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
