British air transport traffic is projected to reach approximately 1.13 million departures by 2028, up from around 1.09 million departures in 2023. This marks an average annual growth rate of 0.6%. Historically, however, British demand for air transport has experienced a decline. Since 1975, the country has seen a yearly decrease of 2.6% in air departures. In the global ranking for 2023, the United Kingdom secured the fifth position. Canada surpassed the UK with an equal number of approximately 1.09 million departures. China, India, and Canada occupied the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.
