Nepalese energy supply is on the rise. By 2026, it is expected to reach nearly 16 million tonnes of oil equivalent. That's an increase of 1.5% year-on-year since 1976. In 2021, Nepal came in 80th place, having been surpassed by Guatemala at 14.15 million tonnes of oil equivalent. The United States, India and Russia ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
