The number of credit cards in Switzerland is forecast to reach nearly 7.8 million units by 2026. This represents an increase of 1.1 percent year-on-year on average since 2021, when the figure was 7.4 million units. Between 2017 and 2021, the number of cards in circulation rose by 3.2 percent annually. Switzerland was in 17th place in 2021, behind Sweden (7.4 million). China, Japan, and Brazil were in the top four spots respectively. The value of Swiss credit card transactions is expected to grow to $52.7 billion by 2026, up 1.6 percent annually on average from 2021's $48.5 billion. Since 2017, the demand for such transactions has risen by 5.3 percent annually. In 2021, Singapore led the ranking with $48.5 billion, ahead of South Korea, Japan, and Canada in the top four spots respectively.
