Zambia is set to become a major player in the cosmetics market. By 2026, imports are projected to reach $62 million, up 2.7% per year since 2021. In 2021, the country was in 108th place in terms of imports, with Zimbabwe ahead at $53 million. China, Germany and the United Kingdom followed in second, third and fourth place respectively. In 2018, Zambian exports of cosmetics reached $1.7 million, a 201.9% increase from the $570,000 reported in 2017. Since 2000, however, the country's supply has decreased by 51.8% year on year.
